When Vlada Stojanov launched his cigar brand, Somm, last year, he did so by introducing two cigars. One of them was BDX, short for Bourdeaux. Now, there’s a BDX Blanc heading to shelves.
Blanc is another term from the wine world. It’s the French word for “white” and is Sauvignon blanc is a grape varietal from Bourdeaux. The new Somm BDX Blanc uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper over an Ecuadorian habano binder and fillers that include Dominican piloto cubano, tobacco from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras as well as the Estelí and Jalapa regions of Nicaragua. All of the tobacco was aged for at least three years prior to the cigars being rolled at Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco S.A., the same factory that produces the regular BDX.
It is offered in two sizes:
- Somm BDX Blanc Robusto (5 1/2 x 52) — $12 (Pack of 5, $60)
- Somm BDX Blanc Toro (6 1/2 x 54) — $13 (Pack of 5, $65)
Stojanov told halfwheel that the cigars began shipping to stores this week.
