Sinistro Cigars has announced its newest regular production core line, Mr. Desflorado, which will debut at the upcoming 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show.

The line uses a Connecticut-seed desflorado wrapper from an undisclosed country of origin, an African Cameroon binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Nicaragua, a blend that the company describes as medium-bodied. Mr. Desflorado was blended by James Agopian of Sinistro Cigars, while the cigars are produced at Tabacalera El Artista in the Dominican Republic.

“The Connecticut desflorado wrapper involves a precise rare procedure implemented during the cultivation phase of the tobacco plant,” the company wrote in a press relesae. “In this distinctive process, the uppermost pink flowers of the plant are deliberately removed prior to seed formation. The outcome of this technique is twofold: it deepens the shade of the leaf’s hue and imbues it with a significantly sweeter taste profile. Complementing this wrapper is the infusion of an African Cameroon wrapper along with carefully selected fillers sourced from Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and Colombia. This harmonious combination of elements results in a symphony of flavors that tantalizes the palate.”

Sinistro is releasing Mr. Desflorado in two sizes, a 5 x 52 robusto priced at $10 per cigar, and a 6 x 54 toro priced at $11 per cigar. Both sizes are offered in 20-count boxes. In a press release, the company said that it is likely to expand to more sizes, but did not suggest when that might happen.

Mr. Desflorado becomes the fifth line in Sinistro’s “Mr. Series,” which includes Mr. Black, Mr. Red, Mr. White and Mr. White Gold Edition. It is scheduled to ship to retailers immediately after the PCA Convention & Trade Show, which happens July 8-12 in Las Vegas.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
