S.T. Dupont Big D, Slimmy Begin Shipping

Two of the three new torch flame lighters from S.T. Dupont have begun shipping to stores in the U.S.

Over the summer, S.T. Dupont showed off the Big D, Slimmy and Twiggy, three new flat flame torch lighters.

The Slimmy is arguably the most interesting lighter as it fills a request consumers have made to the French company for years: make a torch version of the signature S.T. Dupont Ligne 2. The Slimmy keeps the same basic body shape as the Ligne 2 but does not feature the roller ignition or lid from the Ligne 2. Instead, the Slimmy has a side-squeeze ignition that activates a flat flame that appears from the top.

It’s offered in seven different colors:

• S.T. Dupont Slimmy Black Lacquer/Chrome, Black Lacquer/Golden, Blue Lacquer/Golden, Coral Lacquer/Chrome, White Lacquer/Golden — $350
• S.T. Dupont Slimmy Diamond Head Chrome/Golden — $370
• S.T. Dupont Slimmy Picasso White — $375

The Big D is an even larger version of the Slimmy, closer in size to the S.T. Dupont Le Grand Dupont lighter. Again, it uses a side-squeeze ignition to activate a flat flame but does not feature a lid. The Big D’s flame is even wider than the Slimmy, closer to the company’s Megajet.

It’s offered in four colors:

• S.T. Dupont Big D Black Lacquer/Chrome, Black Lacquer/Golden, Blue Lacquer/Golden — $425
• S.T. Dupont Big D Diamond Head Chrome/Golden — $450

As for the third lighter, Coles of London—S.T. Dupont’s American distributor—says it expects to begin shipping the Twiggy ($350) later year.
