In February, the Rock Hill City Council declined to vote on a proposed smoking ban, but there was still a chance the smoking ban could formally advance in the near future. Now the City Council has backed even further away from a smoking ban.

The Rock Hill City Council voted 3-3 as to whether it should do further research on a smoking ban, meaning there will not be any additional research. While smokers might be celebrating, according to WRHI there is some indication a future vote on exploring a smoking could happen, but as now the propose is formally tabled.

Rock Hill is the fifth-largest city in South Carolina, with a 2013 population estimate of 69,103 people. It is located in the northern part of the state, 25 miles south of Charlotte, N.C. and approximately 70 miles north of Columbia, S.C.
