Raching, a Chinese electronic humidor company, has launched the new MON5800A electronic humidor, one of the company’s largest humidors to date.

Unlike traditional desktop humidors, which are specialized wooden boxes, Raching makes humidors whose roots are more akin to wine coolers. These units are made to be plugged into electricity and can provide both electronic humidification and cooling. Due to both its size and features, the MON5800A appears to be the company’s new flagship cigar humidor. It measures 72.8 inches tall by 27 inches wide and 27.5 inches deep. The company says the “active volume” is 580l, which should be enough to hold 3,000-4,000 cigars. While the humidors are identical inside, there are three different finishes:

  • Gold — $4,100
  • Black — $4,100
  • Carbon Fiber — $5,100

Like other models from Raching, it is both humidity and temperature controlled. The company says the unit has two evaporators, two cooling units, two water pumps, two heating systems and two air ducts. The evaporators provide humidification, while eight sensors measure conditions in various places inside the humidor.

The inside of the humidor is lined with Spanish cedar and includes vents on the back end of the humidor for the two air duct systems to work. Each humidor comes with six pull-out trays for box storage and four pull-out drawers for loose cigars. There’s also a specific drawer made for dry-boxing cigars.

While most of those features can be found on other temperature-controlled electronic humidors, Raching implements and makes claims about technology that isn’t as common. For example, the MON5800A  humidor also includes Raching’s ammonia removal technology, which the company says works by charging water ions. Raching also says that it has implemented a PID controller to create more stable temperate and humidity curves. The humidor can connect to and be controlled by WeChat.

In the U.S., Raching sells its products via Amazon, though it is making efforts to offer its humidors to cigar retailers.
