The annual release of the Punch Rare Corojo is getting a new addition for 2013: a limited Perfecto vitola, according to a source familiar with the release. Size and price information have not been made available yet, though halfwheel has learned that it is only available as part of a pre-pack of this year’s release.

As is standard for the release of this cigar, retailers can only purchase the cigars for a limited time period, which in 2013 is between March 1 and May 31. There are no restrictions on the dates the cigars can be sold, however.

The wrapper for the Punch Rare Corojo is an Ecuadoran Sumatra, which sits on top of a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and filler from Honduras, Nicaragua and Dominican Republic Piloto Cubano. The cigars are made at Honduras American Tabaco S. A., in Danli, Honduras.

2011 saw the release of the even more limited Punch Rare Corojo 10th Anniversary, which used a rare Connecticut Corojo wrapper. The cigar returned in 2012 with limited availability.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
