Perdomo posted a picture to their Facebook page on Thursday afternoon as a lead up to the addition of a new sun grown version of their Champagne line.

Perdomo Champagne Sungrown Box - May 2013

Comments about the cigar left by the company indicate that it is comparable to the Perdomo Reserve Sun Grown, a cigar introduced in 1998 and discontinued around 2008. The Cuban seed sun grown wrapper for the project comes from the Jalapa Valley of Nicaragua.

Pricing and sizes are said to be the same as the regular Champagne line, with the exception that there will not be a Magnum Tubo or Purito tins release. The Perdomo Champagne Sun Grown should debut in the following sizes:

  • Figurado (4 3/4 x 56) – $5.52 (Boxes of 25, $137.50)
  • Robusto (5 x 54) – $6.50 (Boxes of 25, $162.50)
  • Corona Extra (5 5/8 x 46) – $6.00 (Boxes of 25, $150.00)
  • Epicure (6 x 54) – $7.00 (Boxes of 25, $175.00)
  • Super Toro (6 x 60) –  $8.00 (Boxes of 25, $200.00)
  • Torpedo (7 x 54) – $7.75 (Boxes of 25, $193.76)
  • Churchill (7 x 54) – $7.50 (Boxes of 25, $187.50)

A representative from the company said the cigars are slated to be unveiled at the 2013 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in mid-July. The cigars are currently aging at Perdomo’s factory in Nicaragua, while production on the boxes is just getting underway.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
