Jim Ardis—the mayor of Peoria, Ill.—has proposed raising the minimum age to purchase tobacco from 18 to 21.
Ardis will make the proposal tonight at a Peoria Liquor Commission meeting according to a report from WBMD.
Peoria is located in central Illinois and has a population around 115,000.
