After being a part of the Rodriguez Olivan Cigars Factory booth at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show along with companies like K3ngz Cigars, RTB Cigars and Don Olivan Cigar, B.A.M.F. Cigars spread its wings for this year’s show by putting together its own impressive booth. The B.A.M.F. in the company’s name stands for Bad Ass Mother Fucker, a tie-in to the company’s military theme that is prevalent not only as part of B.A.M.F.’s marketing—the company’s owner Ismael Olivan is a veteran of the Spanish Army—but also throughout the company’s entire portfolio of cigar releases.

The aforementioned new booth that B.A.M.F. Cigars was showing its cigars out of was actually two different tents, one of which had a canvas top while the other featured a military camouflage top. In addition, there was a cigar roller rolling cigars and plenty of military paraphernalia scattered around the booth, including a display tray made from an old munitions crate.

B.A.M.F. was showing off three new releases as part of the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, two of which were collaborations with two different charities that help members of the military. There is also a figurado with a binder and filler made up of tobacco grown in Italy, while one of the aforementioned collaborations is also a PCA exclusive release.

B.A.M.F. Mafioso

Named after the Italian word for mobster, these cigars are packaged in 10-count boxes that come with a challenge coin and bullet lighter included inside. The blend includes a binder and filler made up of tobacco grown in Italy, the first time the company has used that combination in one of its releases.

These cigars are a collaboration with the Shadow Warriors Project and are being released to “honor the Private Military Security Contractors that have and still protect our country.” The cigars are being made at the Rodriguez Olivan Cigars Factory in the Dominican Republic, and a percentage of each cigar purchased will be donated to support Shadow Warriors Project.

The company’s second collaboration is with Operation: Cigars For Warriors, a charity that sends cigars and other items to U.S. troops serving in active combat zones. According to the company, the art used on the bands was inspired by art made by Lou Piscitelli, and the cigars are meant to “honor our fallen soldiers” and they are being sold exclusively to retailers who place orders at PCA 2023.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
