Arango Cigar Co. is a staple booth at the show, as they have the most recognizable display, in my opinion, with the giant pipe made out of pipes.

Even if an attendee were to forget what the booth name was, I know for a fact that the pipe sculpture is easily remembered, so I think that does quite a good job in terms of advertising and memorability.

What we’re here for isn’t pipes, though they do have plenty of those. Today, we’re visiting Arango to get information on the new Rocky Patel cigar.

Rocky Patel Bucktown

Arango has commissioned a number of cigars from several manufacturers that pay tribute to the company’s Chicago-area roots, and this is the latest. The company calls the Bucktown a mild to medium-bodied cigar with a nutty core and hints of sweetness. Chicago-area retailers got the first dibs on these, receiving them in early May. Other retailers across the country have had access to them since June 1.

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010, I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion.
