While it’s the middle of summer and the 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show is in one of the hottest cities in the U.S. with temperatures regularly climbing into the 110s, inside Tarazona Cigars’ corner of the Sutliff Tobacco booth, it is all about a pair of upcoming holidays in the much cooler months that have a fair amount in common, certainly more than the holidays they celebrate do.

Tarazona has one of the fuller bookcases amongst the Sutliff booth, which it shares with about a dozen other companies as well as Sutliff’s pipe tobacco offerings. As a corner space, it is often the first brand that people encountered, and as such there were several times when the Tarazona crew and the retailers they were speaking with numerous enough to spill out into the aisle way, which seemed to validate the saying that nothing draws a crowd like a crowd. On the shelves is a mix of the company’s regular production offerings and the two new cigars placed front and center.

Tarazona La Bruja Broomstick

If you’re looking for a new cigar to smoke this Halloween, Tarazona has a new option for you, the La Bruja Broomstick. La Bruja is Spanish for the witch, with the cigar offering a shaggy foot that resemble the bristles of a broom, Even with that touch, the three wrappers used to create the design above the unfinished foot will certainly capture your attention and likely those of anyone around you when you decide to light it up.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Candela, Connecticut Shade & Habano)
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua (Condega & Jalapa)
  • Tarazona La Bruja Broomstick (7 1/8 x 57) — $17 (Box of 10, $170)

Tarazona Misfit Toys

After Halloween wraps up, attention will turn to Thanksgiving and Christmas, and it’s the latter that Eddie Tarazona is using as his inspiration for his other PCA release, Misfit Toys. You’ll notice that it’s a similar design to the La Bruja Broomstick, but what might make this cigar really special—and a possible collectible—is the packaging.

It was designed by David Angelo Roman, an artist who is best known for his work with the Rick and Morty franchise, which currently includes being a Rick and Morty cover artist, creating art for the Oni/Adult Swim Rick and Morty comic book and the Cryptozoic trading cards. Also of note, each pack holds five cigars, though they are being officially offered in sets of 10 cigars. That said, it will be up to retailers to determine how they want to sell them.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Habano and Maduro) and Undisclosed (Candela)
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua
  • Tarazona Misfit Toys (5 x 50) — $14 (Bundles of 10, $140)

Production: 500 Bundles of 10 Cigars (5,000 Total Cigars)

Release Date: November 2021
