There are a number of booths that I look forward to covering every year, and La Palina is definitely on the list. The company has a number of new releases this year, including two new versions in its popular Goldie line, a refreshed KB Series and a brand new cigar that was created to celebrate an important milestone in the company’s history.

The walls and display cabinets that make up La Palina’s booth this year are the same that the company has used since 2016, but with a noticeably smaller space footprint in the front for people to sit and congregate.

La Palina 125 Años

This cigar was created to commemorate the company’s 125th anniversary and is packaged in a glass jar reminiscent of those used in the early 20th century. In fact, the inspiration for the jar was drawn from the packaging that La Palina used in 1920s, enhanced with modern graphic and printing technology. Each jar is shipped to store full of 37 cigars and also with an accompanying bundle of 37 cigars designed to refill the cigars.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
