Next month, Ohana Nui will be releasing its first blend, and is fittingly calling it Aloha, which the company says is “a way of friendly introducing this brand to the market.”

The Ohana Nui Aloha is a 6 x 50 toro that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder from the country’s Condega region, and fillers from Nicaragua, specifically, Estelí-grown ligero and leaves from the Jalapa region. Production is handled by Tabacalera Pages de Nicaragua S.A.

The Ohana Nui Aloha is priced at $9 per cigar and will be offered in bundles of 10 cigars priced at $90. As of now, the company plans to make the cigar available on a regular, ongoing basis.

“This is the first joint release between Ohana and 262, we wanted it to be a great cigar for fair price,” said Ryan Rodriguez of Ohana Nui. Rodriguez said he is considering adding more sizes to the line and a possible second blend version.

The cigars will be available for retailers to order during the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show in July and will begin shipping immediately following the show.

Ohana Nui is a project launched by Ohana Cigars and 262 Cigars that brings the two companies together not only for cigars, but as partners in each others’ companies. The Ohana Nui name comes from the Hawaiian term for “big family,” and it will ultimately serve as a way to release projects that don’t necessarily fit into either brand’s portfolios. As part of the project, Ohana has sold a 10 percent stake to 262 Cigars, and 262 Cigars has sold a 10 percent stake to Ohana.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
