Early last week, news broke that the South Carolina-based Laudisi Distribution Group would takeover U.S. distribution of Savinelli pipes, a move that also includes the brand’s cigars. A letter sent by Savinelli’s CEO, Sonia Rivolta, to retailers last Monday made no mention of cigars, but representatives from both Savinelli and LDG have confirmed to halfwheel the cigar business is moving as well.

The Laudisi website shows images of cigars, but a message reads:

For us, it’s all about the pipes and tobacco. And working closely with a storied, successful company like Savinelli is really special. One of the great joys we’ve had in the pipe world since 2000 is the opportunity to work with people who are as dedicated to pipes and pipe tobacco as we are.

On October 22nd, LDG will take over from Savinelli USA all importation and distribution of Savinelli products for the US market. Between now and then, stay tuned here as the full product catalog and an assortment of other content is added!

A representative from Savinelli commented, “the Savinelli cigars side of things should be intact for at least the near future.”

Savinelli does not operate a cigar factory, instead the company has worked with the Fuentes, Olivas and Plasencias to produce cigars.
