A new release from Alec and Bradley Rubin has been sent to My Cigar Pack, a cigar subscription service, and next month it will head to select stores.

The MadCap by Alec & Bradley is a 6 x 52 toro that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Honduran binder and fillers from Colombia, Honduras and Nicaragua. The cigars were rolled in July 2021 at the Raíces Cubanas factory in Danlí, Honduras and have been aging ever since. Alec and Bradley Rubin are the sons of Alan Rubin, founder of Alec Bradley, who named the company after his sons. Both Alec and Bradley work for the company and there have been a number of releases released under the Alec & Bradley banner, some of which have been sold to stores nationwide and others have been exclusive releases like this.

It has an MSRP of $10.50 per cigar and there are just 5,000 MadCap cigars available for 2022.

“This has been the cigar we’ve worked on for the most time, through multiple visits in the blending process that was spearheaded by Bradley (Rubin), some minor logistics delays, and most importantly, waiting for the cigar to smoke perfect,” said Alexander Berezowski of My Cigar Pack, in a press release. “(The) cigar was mainly blended by Alec & Bradley and I only had a say in minor tweaks to go with the final selection as the result was a modification of some options they were already working on.”

The cigars shipped to customers who are part of the My Cigar Pack subscription service last week. On Sept. 1, My Cigar Pack will introduce a new version of the My Cigar Pack Retailer Program, which will allow brick-and-mortar retailers to purchase cigars that are exclusive to My Cigar Pack like the MadCap.

“We’re in a business and culture that’s been around for hundreds of years and to create something unique is the biggest challenge,” said Bradley Rubin. “But creating something fun, is not. Madcap, meaning eccentric, is meant to bring out the fun in the cigar industry. To be our true selves and not take ourselves too seriously is the point of Madcap and it’s what we hope people get out of this cigar.”

Berezowski has indicated that more MadCap cigars might be released next year.
