Shortly after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it would be regulating premium cigars, MoyaRuiz Cigars announced a new event-only release called Civil Disobedience.

Today, the company told halfwheel that after conducting a poll on social media about whether to make it a regular production cigar–and getting 98% of the vote in favor of it–Civil Disobedience will be available to all retailers at the upcoming IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which runs July 25-28 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The cigar will remain the exact same as the event-only version, a 5 x 50 robusto with an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. Pricing will also be the same, with each 10-pack priced at $59.95. The company will continue to donate a portion of the cigar’s sales to Cigar Rights of America (CRA).

The cigar is made at La Zona Cigar Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. It made its debut on June 18 at ZT Cigars’ Smoklahoma event.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
