Mombacho Cigars S.A. of Nicaragua’s founder Cameron Heaps has announced that Jared Michaeli Ingrisano has been named the company’s new president.

Michaeli has been with the company since October 2020 after working in the premium tobacco industry for eight years, including sales and brand management roles with Drew Estate and Debonaire Tobaco Company, and as president of Tobacco Tours, a company offering experiential trips to Cuba.

In January 2021, he was named as the company’s director of global sales, a position that saw him relocate to Granada, Nicaragua, where Mombacho Cigars S.A. of Nicaragua’s factory, Casa Favilli, is located.

“I have all the confidence that Jared and his new management team will create the next 15 years of beauty,” said Heaps in a press release, referencing the company’s recent 15th anniversary and changes to its management structure and product lines. In addition, the company has also focused on restructuring its U.S. operations, including announcing in December 2021 that it would be selling its cigars in the U.S. under the brand name Favilli S.A. The company had faced trademark challenges over the Mombacho name in the U.S., as the rights to the name are owned by AGANORSA Leaf. Sources have told halfwheel that the matter has been resolved, though neither side has issued a statement or official comment on the matter yet.

“I cannot thank Cam enough, not just the opportunity but the trust and mentorship he has given me since October of 2020,” Michaeli said via a press release. “Permanently moving to Granada to take on directorship was a truly special experience. Amongst the many changes and transitions of 2021 came the correct team with the correct ethic. From that, the beauty behind our embarking toward the next 15 years will be graciously displayed.”

He added that 2022 will be the year when the Mombacho Cigars S.A. of Nicaragua team will finally “bring to life the company’s unique look, feel and operation, a culmination of a marathon year of restructure mixed with 15 years of history.”

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
