There will be a new version of Crowned Heads’ Mil Días heading to stores next month, and it’s both a new size and a new blend.

The Mil Días Marranitos Edición Limitada 2022 is a 5 3/4 x 52 robusto extra, though the more notable difference between the Marranitos and the rest of the Mil Días line is that it uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra maduro wrapper instead of the Ecuadorian habano wrapper found on the other the Mil Días vitolas. The internal blend remains the same: a Nicaragua binder and fillers from Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Peru. Like the rest of the line, it is made at Tabacalera Pichardo in Estelí, Nicaragua.

“I felt that after releasing Marevas, Escogidos, and Magicos as limited releases, that Mil Días had reached an evolution point in the brand where playing with the cover leaf became an interesting proposition,” said Jon Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads, in a press release. “We had experimented with several wrapper options; however, when we applied the Sumatra Maduro wrapper to the existing blend, the flavor profile took on a whole other dimension.”

The Mil Días Marranitos Edición Limitada 2022 has an MSRP of $12.25 per cigar and is limited to 2,500 boxes of 12 cigars. Its boxes are also a bit different than the other Mil Diás cigars thanks to their black color.

Crowned Heads says it will begin shipping the Marranitos in March.
