During all but one of the previous five years, Crowned Heads has released Le Carême in a limited edition belicoso size. This year, it is switching things up and using the size for a limited edition release in the Mil Días line.
Update (Nov. 16, 2023) — The Mil Días Belicosos Finos LE 2023 began shipping yesterday.
The Mil Días Belicosos Finos is a 5 1/2 x 52 belicoso, the same size as the Bolívar Belicoso Fino, a popular Cuban cigar. Blend-wise, Mil Días uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Peru.
Each cigar will have an MSRP of $12.95 per cigar and production is limited to 1,500 boxes of 12 cigars.
“This year has been so successful for Crowned Heads, and we wanted to close it out not only with a bang, but also with offering something special to everyone who’s supported us,” said Jon Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads in a press release. “Historically, we’ve only utilized the Belicoso Fino vitola in our Le Carême blend as a limited edition, and recently as a sampler exclusive size in our Las Calaveras EL 2023 sampler. The size really lends itself brilliantly to the Mil Dias blend, and the result is a flavor experience packed with layers of cream, wood, tea, and an underlying floral quality, as well.”
The Belicosos Finos will be the second new Mil Días vitola in as many months. Earlier this month, Crowned Heads released the Mil Días MDP55 as an exclusive for JR Cigar.
Mil Días is produced at TacaNicsa, the factory led by Eradio Pichardo. It is located in the same building as Tabacalera Pichardo, the factory that made Mil Días when the line debuted.
