A new regular production release from LH Cigars pays homage to the Greek heritage of company founder Nicholas Syris.

The Nick Sofos is a 6 x 58 short salomones composed of an Ecuadorian habano criollo 98 wrapper covering an Ecuadorian habano 2000 binder and a filler blend of tobaccos grown in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Peru as well as “a touch” of Brazilian ligero. Sophos is the Greek word for wise or learned.

According to the company, each Sofos will have an MSRP of $14 and will be initially sold in 20-count bundles, with 20-count boxes added later. As with the rest of the cigars from LH Cigars, the Nick Sofos is being made at the Tabacos de Costa Rica factory.

“The Salomon Sophos combines the rich tapestry of Greek heritage and history with the craftsmanship of a premium cigar blended with aged tobaccos within the distinctive Salomon shape,” reads a press release.

Bundles of the Nick Sofos are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on March 1.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
