Earlier this year, Les Fines Lames—the French accessory company best known for its cigar knives—showed off its first lighter called Le Feu, French for “The Fire.” At the time, the company said it would begin shipping that lighter towards the end of the year.

That time has come and Les Fines Lames is shipping its first lighter model to stores—two to be in fact—but neither is the lighter that was shown off in March. Instead, the company has released two different models: Le Feu Brick and Le Feu Svelt.

The Le Feu Brick ($139/€139) is available in five different color choices: Black, Blue, Champagne, OD Green and Red. It’s made of stainless steel with a lacquer finish and measure 2.6 inches x 1.6 in x 0.4 and weigh 3.17 ounces. Images indicate this is a standard single flame torch. In addition, the lighter has a fuel window.

The Le Feu Svelt ($119/€119) can be purchased in Black, FDE or OD Green. Slightly thinner than the Brick, the Svelt measures 2.6 inches x 1.6 in x 0.28 and weighs 3.17 ounces. It too has a fuel window, it’s unclear what kind of flame this model uses.

It’s also unclear what is happening to the lighter Les Fines Lames showed off during the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show. That lighter was simply referred to Le Feu and featured a flat flame activated via side-squeeze ignition. The company said that it planned 10 different colors using a Cerakote finish, with pricing set at around $150.

The company did not immediately respond to an email seeking more information about what happened to that lighter model.

I have worn many hats in my life up to this point: I started out as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, then transitioned to photographing weddings—both internationally and in the U.S.—for more than a decade. After realizing that there was a need for a cigar website containing better photographs and more in-depth information about each release, I founded my first cigar blog, SmokingStogie, in 2008. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars, and it was one of the predecessors to halfwheel, which I co-founded.
