Members of Cigar Dojo will be getting a cigar made in their honor next year from La Jugada. Danny Moya and Nelson Ruiz are planning their first limited edition, the La Jugada Nunchuck, for next spring.
“It’s going to go in with the whole martial arts thing of the (Cigar) Dojo community,” said Moya to halfwheel.
While he declined to comment on what he described as the most interesting part of the release, he said the Nunchuck would be a completely different blend in a 7 1/2 x 52 parejo size. The company is limiting the release to 500 boxes of 10 and hoping to price the boxes around $100.00.
While tomorrow is the day Cigar Dojo will celebrate its “Birthday Herf,” the cigar is not expected until April, although Moya said the duo were trying to push the release up to as early as March.
“We truly appreciate all of the support that our fans on the Dojo have given us,” the pair said in a press release. “It’s in honor of you that we created this cigar!”
Cigar Dojo joins a list of online cigar communities to get a cigar made its in honor. Cigar Family got a special release in 2006 in honor of its 10th anniversary. The BOTL.org forum has received five limited editions to date, Reddit’s r/cigars got its own cigar last year and members of Saints & Sinners have gotten a variety of special cigars from Pete Johnson over the last three years.
What’s notably different about these releases and the Nunchuck is how it will be sold. Moya told halfwheel that the cigar will be available to any of the company’s retailers and sold to the general public.
This will be the first release for La Jugada, whose cigars are made at Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
