La Galera Imperial Jade Arriving at Retailers

Imperial Jade, the newest member of the La Galera brand, has begun arriving at stores both in the United States and around the world, beginning with shops in the Dominican Republic earlier this month.

The Imperial Jade is the first cigar in the La Galera brand to use an African-grown Cameroon wrapper. Underneath the wrapper is a Dominican-grown criollo binder from Tabacalera Palma’s Jacagua farm, along with piloto cubano filler from that same farm and Dominican criollo 98 from the company’s La Canela farm.

The La Galera Imperial Jade is produced at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic and is being released in five sizes:

• La Galera Imperial Jade Corona (5 1/2 x 44) — $7 (Box of 20, $140)
• La Galera Imperial Jade Robusto (5 1/2 x 50) — $8 (Box of 20, $160)
• La Galera Imperial Jade Toro (6 x 52) — $9 (Box of 20, $180)
• La Galera Imperial Jade Piramide (6 x 52) — $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)
• La Galera Imperial Jade Churchill (7 x 47) — $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)

Also notable about the La Galera Imperial Jade is that it wears a biodegradable cigar band, which according to a press release from the company is the first to be printed by Vrijdag Premium Printing, which is well known throughout the cigar industry for its work producing innovative cigar bands. The company opted to select a jade green color for the band to bring out the different shades of brown that the Cameroon wrapper offers.

The La Galera brand now sits at six unique lines, as it joins the La Galera Connecticut, Habano, Maduro, 1936 Box Pressed and Anemoi. It will be getting another new release in the near future, as the company has yet to release its 85th Anniversary, which consists of two cigars, one blended by himself while the other was blended by his son, José Manuel Blanco. The release date has not yet been firmed up, but company representatives have told halfwheel they hope to have it out around the end of October.
