Cannabinoids are coming to your cigars.

Jas Sum Kral has announced that it will be releasing a new cigar called JSK Nuggs. It’s a 4 x 48 size offered in both Ecuadorian Connecticut and Mexican San Andrés wrappers, both infused with cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD.

CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are two of over 100 different cannabinoids that are found within marijuana. While THC is largely known for its psychoactive effects, CBD is being heralded for its medical benefits. It’s also found in hemp.

That fact is important because CBD extracts, specifically CBD oil, have become widespread in terms of their sale, including in areas where the sale of marijuana is still illegal.

While CBD is not known to get people high—there’s a debate about whether it’s appropriate to describe it as psychoactive—it is marketed as being able to help with everything from rare forms of epilepsy to general pain.

Riste Ristevski of Jas Sum Kral indicated that the plan is to have the cigar deliver 5 mg of CBD per cigar, a relatively low amount compared to other products such as CBD vape oil.

As for other specifics, like where the JSK Nuggs will be sold or for what price, are still not known. It is being targeted as a 2019 release.

It’s unclear if this would be the first premium cigar infused with CBD. There are products that look like a cigar that are made with marijuana. In addition, Al Capone offers its cigarillos with CBD.
