A new look is coming to one of Joya de Nicaragua’s best known cigars, as today the company announced updated packaging and bands for the Antaño Dark Corojo.

The new look features bands and boxes that are more unified in design with the company’s other brands, while it gets its own color scheme, using a black and gold combination with a new secondary band.

“To align the Antaño family and its look, we have updated the packaging of the Antaño Dark Corojo to match the other brands in the Antaño Family, said Juan Ignacio Martinez, executive president of Joya de Nicaragua, via a press release. “This means that even though all of them will have their unique color code and details, they will carry relatable bands and will be presented in the same type of box. This alignment will help establish the Antaño family brand of cigars. In other words, we are now offering three alternatives to get cigars of unique Nicaraguan character.”

The Antaño Dark Corojo line debuted in 2007 and has long been known as one of the most powerful cigars on the market, showcasing the power of Nicaraguan tobacco and high priming ligero. That won’t change with the new look, and it will stay available in six sizes:

  • Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo Azarosa (4 1/2 x 52)
  • Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo El Martillo (5 1/2 x 54)
  • Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo La Niveladora (6 x 52)
  • Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo La Pesadilla (4 3/4 x 60)
  • Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo Peligroso (5 x 44)
  • Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Dark Corojo Poderoso (6 x 54)

“The Antaño Dark Corojo is a cigar of great strength, even for the most experienced smoker,” said Mario Perez, Joya de Nicaragua’s commercial manager. “With its revamp we were also looking to solidify a family represents the ultra robustness, yet smooth character of Nicaraguan tobacco.”

The new look will begin shipping to retailers in October, according to Daniel Barrios, U.S. brand manager for Joya de Nicaragua.

Update — Shortly after this article was published, the shipping date for the new packaging was announced.
