Jas Sum Kral’s CBD cigar is getting a more intense version next week.

The Jas Sum Kral Nuggs 100mg uses a broadleaf maduro over the same filler blend as the original Nuggs—though the company has never disclosed those tobaccos—and more notably, gets a 100mg of hemp-derived CBD, formally known as cannabidiol.

CBD, which is found in both marijuana and hemp, has become a phenomenon of late, in large part thanks to the federal government legalizing it last year. It is legal so long as the CBD comes from hemp, not marijuana, and there is less than 3 percent THC, formally tetrahydrocannabinol.

While THC is the psychoactive that gets people high, CBD is known as the healing component. While still in its infancy and also not conclusive, research suggests that it could be useful in treating a variety of ailments ranging from pain to anxiety to insomnia and more.

CBD infused cigars have been sold in Europe, but Jas Sum Kral’s Nuggs, which shipped in March, is the first example from an established cigar maker sold in the U.S.

The original Nuggs, which used an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, only has a 20mg dosage of CBD. It is priced at $12, while the 100mg version will be sold at $24 per cigar.
