The latest installment in J. London’s Telephone Booth series is on its way to stores, as the company has begun shipping the Orange Telephone Booth.

The cigar is a 5 1/2 x 46 corona gorda that uses an Ecuadorian-grown Sumatra wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, with the filler made up of criollo 98 and olor tobaccos of undisclosed origin. The company does not disclose which factory makes its Telephone Booth series, other than that it is a small factory in the Dominican Republic that is described as part of an established company in the tobacco growing and processing industry. It also notes that the tobacco comes from that factory’s inventory and has been aged between four and six years.

A total of 4,000 cigars have been produced for the release, split up into 800 packs of five cigars. Like the other cigars in the Telephone Booth Series, it is priced at $14.80 per cigar and $73 for a pack of five cigars. Unlike the others in the series, this will be the first to wear a band.

J. London showed off the Orange Telephone Booth at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, along with the next release, the Purple Telephone Booth, a 5 x 50 robusto that uses a Dominican broadleaf maduro wrapper over an olor binder and a filler that contains criollo 98 and olor. The company is not disclosing the origins of the binder or filler for this release, which is due out in October.

The J. London Telephone Booth series was announced at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show and debuted in December 2022 with the Blue Telephone Booth, then added the Neon Green Telephone Booth in April 2023. The company’s plan is to release a total of 12 blends for the series, each limited to between 2,000 and 5,000 cigars.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
