J. London Cigars, the boutique brand owned by Jonathan Fiant, is at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show as part of the Luxury Cigar Club booth this year, a single, 10′ x 10′ space that also included Steel Horse Cigar, as LCC distributes both brands. The space would quickly fill up as retailers stopped by, often creating a bit of a line in the aisle, which seemed to help encourage passersby to stop and check things out.

The company has become known for its Gold Series, which debuted in 2014 and includes nearly a dozen sizes that span regular production, limited edition and store exclusive releases. While it continues to be the brand’s showpiece, the company has begun to expand its portfolio and has told halfwheel that it is working on a new line, while also announcing a new series of limited editions.

While the company is showing off its Gold Series, there is a banner that is giving a hint as to what the company has in the works for the coming year or so. What is a simple image of a red, London-style telephone booth becomes the teaser for the company’s new project.

J. London Telephone Booth Series

While this was not on display in the booth, the J. London Telephone Booth Series will kick off this fall with the first of 12 blends that will be released in four-to-six week intervals, which Fiant estimated would put the entire release timeline at approximately 18 months. Each installment in the line will be a single vitola, with between 2,000 and 5,000 cigars produced for each release, and each having its own phone booth color on the packaging, starting off with a red one. They are being made at a small, undisclosed factory in the Dominican Republic that is part of an established company in the tobacco growing and processing industry.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
