PENSA is now known as J.C. Newman PENSA.

J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has announced that it has renamed the factory, whose acronym stands for Puros de Esteli Nicaragua S.A., to include the J.C. Newman name.

“This change, while symbolic, reflects the shift that we are making as a company to elevate the ‘J.C. Newman’ name and use it to tell our story as a 123-year-old, four-generation family business, and America’s oldest family-owned premium cigar maker,” said Eric Newman, president of J.C. Newman, in a press release.

J.C. Newman PENSA is the second largest cigar factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, rolling over 100,000 cigars per day. It opened in 2011 rolling Quorum and El Baton, shortly thereafter adding Perla del Mar and then J.C. Newman moved its Brick House brand from another factory to PENSA.

The factory is co-run by Omar Ortez and Lazaro Lopez.
