While much of my time in Las Vegas was in conversations with people not thrilled about CigarCon, there was a lot to like at the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. As we’ve done before, here’s a look at the best things I saw on the trade show floor.
Davidoff Taste The Elements Experience
Far and away the most impressive thing I saw was also something I heard, smelled and tasted. Inside the Davidoff of Geneva USA booth, the company built a room designed to highlight its Escurio, Nicaragua and Yamasá blends.
The video above explains it pretty well with the one exception of the smells, which were added to each room to help add to the experience. Also, at the end there was a photo booth.
Elie Bleu Cigar Scissors
I’m a big fan of cigar scissors and really like this design aesthetic. I don’t know how well these work but they look stunning. Pricing is $200-250 and I’m really looking forward to buying a pair of each.
Diplomático
To say I’m a fan of Diplmático rum is an understatement. I’ve been drinking Diplomático for years back when finding the brand in the U.S. was a rare sight.
I’ve had just about every incarnation of the rum ever and while I drink a lot less rum than I used to, Diplomático Ambassador remains my liquor of choice for special occasions.
At this year’s trade show, Mombacho Cigars S.A. announced a new collaboration with the Venezeulan rum brand.
Seeing the Diplomático logo on a cigar box brings me joy. I haven’t had the cigars yet, but soon.
