For Casa Turrent, 2016’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show was all about honoring the family’s history, while the company used 2017 and 2018 to concentrate supporting existing products. However, this year’s show saw a very unique release that incorporates a different priming wrapper over the same internal blend leading to vasty different flavors in the cigar.

The booth had some changes compared to last year: it was a bit scaled down with fewer chairs, and the products were on shelves located on a main wall as opposed to in the middle of the booth. However, two things had not changed: EH Cigars still has a place in the booth and Casa Turrent is still serving samples of Casa Turrent Gran Reserva Tequila Anejo, which I actually was able to try this year.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
