IPCPR 2013: Curivari

While they’ve been available in Europe since 2005, the U.S. presence of Curivari is fairly recent and still fairly limited. The booth seemed to be upgraded this year, and the company introduced two new releases to their portfolio.

The Curivari Reserva Limitada Café Noir is a Nicaraguan puro that uses Cuban seed tobacco. It’s semi-pressed and comes in three sizes: the Café Noir 54 is 5 1/2 x 54, the Café Noir  56 is 6 x 56 and the Café Noir 62 6 1/4 x 60. All come in 10-count boxes like the company’s entire portfolio does, with single stick MSRPs of $7.80, $8.80 and $9.50.

The Curivari Achilles is also a Nicaraguan puro that has strength but well-rounded flavors and pleasant lingering flavors,according to company president Andreas Throuvalas. It will be only be available four times per year – March, May, September and November, with the first shipment happening this September and offering around 10,000 sticks. Three sizes: Heroicos, 5 1/4 x 50 ($8.50); Gloriosos, 5 3/4 x 56 ($9.50) and Eternos, 6 1/4 x 52) $9.50.
