Smoking at city parks in Houston, Texas is now banned. In July, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department announced that it would be banning smoking at all parks, as well as expanding a library smoking ban to cover all outside property.

City employees will issue warnings to any violators, if the offender refuses to seize smoking, police could be called and issue a $2,000 fine.

The new law, which went into effect on Sept. 2, 2014, will not affect smoking on sidewalks.
