General Cigar Co. has shipped a cigar that the company created to celebrate “the physique of adult males who prefer to drink from a six-pack instead of spending countless hours at the gym obsessing over their abs,” according to a press release.
That cigar is the Punch Dad Bod, a 4 1/2 x 60 perfecto priced at $6.99 each, that is packaged in four “reusable stash cans” made to look like beer cans, with five cigars in each container. In addition, each cigar features a band with a tie design and the cans can be reused to store cigars or a portable ashtray.
“Father’s Day is the perfect time for us to let the world know that we salute dads, the Dad bod and the pleasure of smoking a great cigar,” said John Hakim, brand manager for Punch, in a press release. “So we created this special expression and packed it in tins that own the soft-in-the-middle physique with pride. Dad Bod is about showing our support for the salt-of-the-earth Punch smokers who continue to make Punch their go-to brand.”
The blend of the Punch Dad Bod is made with tobaccos from six different countries: a Cameroon wrapper covers a Connecticut broadleaf binder and the filler blend includes Brazilian mata fina, Dominican piloto cubano and tobaccos from La Entrada in Honduras and Condega, Nicaragua. The cigars were produced at STG Danlí in Honduras and while General has confirmed that the Dad Bod is a limited release, the company declined to give any specific production numbers.
In an email, Victoria Jaworski, director of digital marketing and communications at General Cigar Co., told halfwheel that the Punch Dad Bod cigars began shipping to retailers on May 1.
