Gabriel Cruz Ayala, Co-Owner of La Hoja del Chan, Passes Away at 42
Shortly after the conclusion of the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show, José Gabriel Cruz Ayala of La Hoja del Chan passed away at the age of 42.
La Hoja del Chan is a Puerto Rican cigar company that he owned with his wife Liz. Known as “El Chan,” he was a cigar roller, even rolling cigars on the trade show floor in Las Vegas. In a message posted to social media at the start of the show, the company said it was a dream to be exhibiting at the trade show and representing Puerto Rico.
He is survived by his wife, Liz, and three children. No details have been announced about funeral arrangements.
