Ferio Tego Metropolitan Returning Soon

The number of Ferio Tego cigars available to stores should greatly increase this month as the company has scheduled a number of product launches for October, including the return of Metropolitan Host.

Ferio Tego is the new company founded by Michael Herklots and Brendan Scott, both former Nat Sherman employees, that bought the rights to the Nat Sherman brands. Its agreement included the rights to the individual lines and products, though not the use of the Nat Sherman name, hence the Ferio Tego name. Altira, parent of Nat Sherman, decided to shutdown the company’s cigar and pipe tobacco division last year.

In a late September tweet, Herklots said the Metropolitan Host (Connecticut) should return “next month,” which would imply October. In a text message to halfwheel, Herklots said that there was no definitive date for the return of Metropolitan.

Ferio Tego’s website list a variety of Metropolitan lines split between two different families. The regular Metropolitan line was made by Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Nicaragua, it includes Metropolitan Connecticut, Metropolitan Habano and Metropolitan Maduro.

There are six sizes listed for both the Metropolitan Connecticut and Maduro, the Habano is listed in four vitolas.

There are also two Metropolitan Host lines, both of which use sweetened caps. The regular Metropolitan Host uses a Connecticut wrapper, while the Maduro uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper; the binder and fillers are Honduran for both cigars. These cigars were made at Oettinger Davidoff AG’s Diadema Cigars de Honduras S.A. factory, better known as the Camacho factory.

Ferio Tego said that it plans to use the same factories as when the cigars were made for Nat Sherman.

The company released its first cigars late last month when it began shipping two Timeliness lines, both former Nat Sherman cigars. Later this week, it will ship two eponymous Ferio Tego cigars: Elegancia and Generoso.
