Famous Smoke Shop has announced the release of the Davidoff Famous 75th Anniversary Cigar.
It’s part of the 2017 Davidoff retailer anniversary series, where the company allows appointed merchants celebrating major anniversaries to select between various blends. Davidoff then packages the cigars in special boxes and with secondary bands.
While the cigars are exclusive to a specific retailer, the blends are not necessarily. Davidoff acknowledges that multiple retailers could select the same blend, while there’s also a possibility that some blends are not selected.
This year, Davidoff made some minor changes to the program. All the cigars feature the same basic components: an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Mexican San Andrés wrapper and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers.
Where the blends differ is in the filler percentage Like in years past, all the cigars are a specific size, this time a 6 x 50 toro. The other major change that Davidoff made was that it allowed each of its U.S. flagship stores to also participate in the program this year.
“I want to thank everyone at Davidoff for the great job on this 75th Anniversary presentation,” said, Arthur Zaretsky, owner of Famous Smoke Shop, in a press release. “My parents, David and Rose, who opened Famous Smoke Shop in 1939, would have been very honored.”
As the quote indicates, this isn’t actually Famous’ 75th anniversary. The company celebrated their anniversary two years, with exclusive cigars from Padrón and others. It’s unclear why this release was delayed.
Pricing is set at $22 per cigar and the release comes in boxes of 10.
