There’s a new Excalibur release heading to Arango Cigar Co. for national distribution, the Excalibur Windy City.

The cigar is a 5 1/4 x 54 box-pressed robusto that uses a Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper, Connecticut shade binder, and fillers from Nicaragua, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. According to the company, the blend is similar to the Excalibur Prensado Oscuro, which was discontinued in 2014. It is produced at the STG Danlí factory in Honduras.

It has an MSRP of $9.75 per cigar or $195 for a box of 20 cigars. It will be an ongoing, regular production release, and while it is geared towards retailers in the Chicago area, it is available to any shop in the U.S.

The cigar joins a collection of cigars that Arango distributes featuring the Windy City name, including releases from Rocky Patel, Macanudo, Romeo y Julieta, ACID, Alec Bradley’s MAXX line, as well as CAO and Punch.

The cigar is being distributed through Arango Cigar Co., which is based in Northbrook, Ill., about 25 miles north of Chicago. It became available for retailers to order today, with shipping commencing as well.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
