Eladio Diaz’s first regular production line, called Before & After, is on its way to stores today after making its debut at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show last month.

Before & After has a blend that features an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper, a Dominincan habano 2000 binder, and an all-Dominican filler that contains habano 2000, piloto cubano, habano 92 and broadleaf. A press release called the profile a combination of creaminess and sweetness with slight amounts of spice and wood in a medium to full-bodied smoke.

The line is produced at Diaz’s factory, Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera, in the Dominican Republic and is available in three sizes:

  • Eladio Diaz Before & After My Family (5 x 50) — $15 (Box of 20, $300)
  • Eladio Diaz Before & After Pasion (6 x 52) — $16 (Box of 20, $320)
  • Eladio Diaz Before & After Legado (5 3/4 x 54) — $16.50 (Box of 20, $330)

“I am humbled to invite you to live this unique experience with a blend of tobaccos that represent my Before (when I was an employee in a cigar factory) and my After (seeing my children keeping alive the legacy) of what has been a labor of love for me,” said Eladio Diaz in a press release.

Arango Cigar Co. is handling sales and distribution of the line; the company also distributed the Eladio Diaz 70, a limited edition that came out last year in celebration of Diaz’s 70th birthday.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
