Last year, Christian Eiroa celebrated his 50th birthday with a special 10-inch by 50-ring gauge version of his namesake Eiroa brand.
This year, Eiroa is celebrating his 51st birthday with the Eiroa CBT Maduro 51, another 10 x 50 cigar.
CBT stands for capa, banda, tripa—meaning the name is Spanish for wrapper, binder, filler maduro. While the origins of the tobacco are not disclosed, all of the tobacco used is maduro. This includes the wrapper, which Eiroa previously said is naturally darker because of the amount of sun and nutrients it receives, as opposed to wrappers that are dark simply because of their origin or how they are processed.
Like the Eiroa 50/10, the 50th birthday cigar, the Erioa CBT Maduro 51 was handed out at a party in Las Vegas during the PCA Convention & Trade Show. CLE says it never had any intent of selling the 50/10, but after hearing from retailers, it opted to make it a limited edition.
CLE has not announced the production numbers or a ship date for the Eiroa CBT Maduro 51, but it will have an MSRP of $30.40 per cigar and come in nine-count boxes.
“What a special night,” said Eiroa in a press release. “I wanted to thank everyone who attended, and a huge thank you to the C.L.E. Cigar Company team for creating this unique vitola of the Eiroa CBT which is a favorite of mine. The response was so overwhelming from everyone who attended that we decided to create a limited run just for retailers who attended the event.”
Update — A previous version of this story misspelled Eiroa.
