The third blend in E.P. Carrillo’s six-blend Essence Series is heading to stores.
Unlike most E.P. Carrillo cigars, which are made by the company in the Dominican Republic, the new E.P. Carrillo Honduras is made at the Plasencia family’s Tabacos de Oriente factory in Honduras. Blend-wise, the new line uses a Honduran Olancho San Agustín wrapper that has a two-year fermentation process over a Honduran binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua.
The new line is offered in the same three vitolas as the first two Essence Series blends, the E.P. Carrillo Maduro and E.P. Carrillo Sumatra.
- E.P. Carrillo Honduras Robusto (5 x 50) — $9.25 (Box of 24, $222)
- E.P. Carrillo Honduras Toro (6 x 52) — $10 (Box of 24, $240)
- E.P. Carrillo Honduras Gordo (6 x 60) — $10.75 (Box of 24, $258)
“Two years ago, our journey took us beyond the Casa Carrillo factory, leading to the creation of the acclaimed INCH Nicaragua in collaboration with Plasencia’s Nicaragua facility,” said Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III in a press release last month. “Today, we’re thrilled to unveil the next chapter of our partnership, diving into the heart of Central America with the E.P. Carrillo Honduras. This blend embodies the rich heritage and unparalleled expertise of both our families.”
The final three Essence Series blends have already been announced and were shown off at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show in March: the E.P. Carrillo Connecticut, E.P. Carrillo Cameroon and E.P. Carrillo Nicaragua. Release dates for those three have not yet been announced.
