While the retail world wraps up Black Friday, a new cigar line from E.P. Carrillo will be getting a pre-release launch at Fox Cigar Bar in Scottsdale and Gilbert, Ariz.

According to an e-mail from the store, the blend features a Connecticut broadleaf maduro, a Mexican San Andres binder and fillers from Nicaragua, with a note that each leaf in the blend has been aged for at least three years and fermented with “an unparalleled level of care and patience.” It is a notably different blend than the original Encore that debuted in March 2018 and is a Nicaraguan puro. The retailer called it “an update to the original Encore blend with more body, spice and complexity,” noting that the line is slated to get its full release sometime in 2024.

It appears that the cigar will only be available as part of an in-store pairing package with tastings of four expressions of Jefferson’s bourbon.

Lissette Perez-Carrillo declined to comment about the cigar to halfwheel, saying that the company was “holding off on details until later.”

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
