On Thursday evening, Drew Estate hosted its first Freestyle Live event of 2024, and during the show announced that it has three Barnsmokers planned for 2024, as well as two other large-scale events. It will also be releasing a new Freestyle Live event pack that will showcase a new cigar that will be announced in March.

The three Barn Smoker events will return to some familiar sites, first in Connecticut on Aug. 10, then in Kentucky on Oct. 5, and finally in Florida on Nov. 9. The company has not yet announced specifics of where the events will be held, but said that more information is forthcoming and that tickets will be going on sale on March 15. It was announced that they will be moving into more of a “festival format” and there will be some new amenities for VIP ticket holders.

The company will also be hosting a pair of other events, the first of which was referred to as the West Coast Situation on the show and is set for July, while the Drew Estate Family Reunion will take place on Sept. 7 in Versailles, Ken. at The Kentucky Castle, which is owned by Wes Henderson, the co-founder of Angel’s Envy Distillery.

Rounding out the news on the show was that a new Freestyle Live event pack will be heading to stores on Mon., Jan. 22, and will contain three unidentified cigars along with a keychain/luggage handle, a lighter and a cigar cutter that also functions as a cigar rest.

Nothing was disclosed about the cigars during Thursday’s show, but Willy Herrera, master blender for Drew Estate, did say that “it’s something that I’ve been very, very excited to work with,” in referencing the blend.

The event packs give consumers the opportunity to smoke the new cigars before they are announced on the next Freestyle Live event, which is scheduled for Fri., March 15.

Additional information about the packs and events is expected in the coming days.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
