De Los Reyes has announced that it will be expanding its flagship Don Julio brand with a new line: Sang Bleu.

The company says that the blend is made entirely of Dominican tobacco and that it “was born of our unrestrained fascination for rare tobaccos.” The only varietal the company is disclosing is the wrapper: it’s a habano seed.

Sang Bleu will be offered in four sizes:

  • Don Julio Sang Bleu Robusto (5 x 50) — $14.20 (Box of 24, $340.80)
  • Don Julio Sang Bleu Gordo (6 x 58) — $16.98 (Box of 24, $407.52)
  • Don Julio Sang Bleu P² (6 1/4 x 54) — $25 (Box of 24, $600)
  • Don Julio Sang Bleu Salomon (7 x 58) — $28 (Box of 24, $672)

The Don Julio Sang Bleu’ introduction comes a decade after the company released the Don Julio Punta Espada. The line is named after Julio Samuel Reyes Fermin, who led the Reyes family’s tobacco operation as part of the family’s third generation. Augusto “Foofy” Reyes Vargas—ceo of ARV Group and founder of De Los Reyes—is a member of the fifth generation, and De Los Reyes is led today by Nirka Reyes Estrella, who is of the sixth generation.

De Los Reyes says that the Sang Bleu will begin shipping to stores next month. It’s considered a regular production item, though De Los Reyes says it is unlikely to roll enough cigars to meet demand.
