Cigars and athletes have had a longstanding relationship, from lighting up a stogie to celebrate a championship to stars putting their names on a brand so they have their own line of cigars.  Now there’s a new chapter in that relationship, as former NBA star Dennis Rodman has partnered with Dreamer Cigars for a one-time, limited edition release called Ring of Honor.

It’s a 7 x 54 vitola that uses an Ecuadorian-grown, Connecticut-seed wrapper atop a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Production is limited to 250 boxes of 20 cigars, which were made at the SCT factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Pricing is set at $397 per box, which works out to $19.85 per cigar,

All of the boxes will come with a certificate of authenticity and will be personally signed by Rodman, and three of them will come with something special: a golden ticket that will get them a jersey signed by Rodman.

“We are honored to collaborate with Dennis Rodman on this special project,” said Adam Guard, ceo of Dreamer Cigars, via a press release. “Dennis is not only a basketball legend but also an avid cigar smoker and of course a true original whose rebellious spirit and unique style is unmatched. With the Dennis Rodman Ring of Honor Cigar, we aim to capture the essence of Dennis’s legacy and celebrate his extraordinary achievements.”

The cigars are being offered exclusively through Dreamer Cigars’ online store and are currently available to order. The cigar are slated to ship in April.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
