Even after discontinuing 10 cigars as part of cuts to its Puro d’Oro and Aniversario lines, Davidoff is not done with its discontinuations.
The Davidoff Maduro, a three-size line, will also be departing. While the cuts aren’t formally expected to be later in the year, multiple retailers told halfwheel that they have experienced issues with supply on the Maduro line.
While a representative from Davidoff of Geneva USA has previously declined to comment on the discontinuation of Davidoff Maduro, a report from Stogie Guys quoted Orianne Labrick, a Swiss-based Davidoff brand manager, who confirmed the news.
That report also indicated the Davidoff Classic No. 1, No. 3; Grand Cru No. 1, No. 4; and the Millennium Blend Lancero and Lonsdale are also being discontinued.
Also on the chopping block are No. 1 and No. 3 from the Davidoff Classic Series; Grand Cru No. 1 and No. 4; the No. 1 and No. 2 Aniversarios; and the Lonsdale and Lancero Millenium Blend vitolas.
A representative from Davidoff of Geneva USA declined to comment on the latest rounds of cuts.
Davidoff is expected to introduced a variety of new lines later this year. Due to the company’s shop-in-shop humidor installations, Davidoff has placed an artificial restriction on the size of its portfolio. The company has a limited amount of space within the displays, which are prominently featured in many Davidoff appointed merchants, therefore, in order to introduce new cigars, Davidoff must make room by removing others.
