Three months after tabling the matter, the Dallas Parks and Recreation Board voted to ban smoking in all city parks but with a few crucial exemptions.

Smoking will be allowed on public golf courses, the Elm Fork Shooting Range and for certain private events. This dealt with most of the concerns from those opposed to the ban, except for one noticeable one: the State Fair of Texas.

The ban would not allow for smoking during the State Fair.

A $200 fine could be assessed to those found in violation of the rule.

The proposal now moves to the City Council, which it must pass, before becoming law.
