Altadis U.S.A. has announced its latest collaborator: Crowned Heads.
For this release, the Nashville-based Crowned Heads has done what it oftentimes does, pay tribute to its home. The Montecristo Ciudad de Música, Spanish for city of music, is a reference to Nashville and its storied history in music.
It uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Production is being handled by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr.’s Tabacalera La Alianza S.A., one of the two factories that produces Crowned Heads’ regular cigar lines.
“The challenge for us was in taking such an iconic brand as Montecristo and putting our fingerprints on it all the while respecting the tradition and legacy that’s existed in the Montecristo brand since 1935,” said Jon Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads, in a press release.
Huber said that Crowned Heads and Perez-Carrillo Jr. worked on the blend and then presented the “final candidates” to Altadis U.S.A. selected the blend it wanted.
