Altadis USA has begun informing more than 20 retailers who have Montecristo lounges that there is a new lounge exclusive Montecristo headed their way in June, the Casa de Montecristo Exclusivo. Launch parties will be held at Montecristo lounges across the country to celebrate the cigar’s release.

The Casa de Montecristo Exclusivo uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers to create what the company describes a complex, rich and smooth cigar with a touch of spice. It will be released in a single 6 x 60 Magnum vitola, packed in ten-count boxes with a single stick price of $11.50.

Churchill’s Fine Cigars in Phoenix made the announcement that it would be getting the new cigar in its weekly e-mail to customers on Wednesday morning and later posted a picture of the cigar to its Instagram account:

A listing of Montecristo lounges can be found on the Altadis USA website.

Update (June 1, 2014) — Altadis USA adjusted the number of lounges participating in the launch of the new cigar, describing it as “more than 20” as opposed to the 30+ number given in the original version of this story. In addition, they provided details on the cigar’s size, blend and price, as well as provided additional images not included in the original story.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
