A new version of the Colibri SV-Cut, one that borrows from the company’s Quasar line of accessories, has begun showing up at retailers.

Unlike the original SV-Cut, which debuted in 2017 and featured a single guillotine cutter and a V-Cut on opposing sides of a vertical case, the Quasar SV-Cut is designed horizontally with a single guillotine cutter that can cut up to a 70-ring gauge cigar next to a V-Cut that can handle up to a 60-ring gauge cigar.

The pyramidic design of the Quasar line allows this new SV-Cut to have unique finger grips that optimize ergonomic function, thus helping with a better cut. Once the cap of a cigar has been cut, it drops into a compartment behind the blades, which can be opened via a fingernail hole on the front of the cutter for emptying.

The Quasar SV-Cut is offered in seven different color options: black, blue, green, gunmetal, navy, red and silver, each of which has an MSRP of $99 and comes with a two-year warranty and a gift box.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
